Ministers are outlining the priorities of the Finnish Presidency of the Council of the EU to parliamentary committees, in a series of meetings.
European Parliament’s newly constituted Brexit Steering Group chaired by Guy Verhofstadt met with EU negotiator on 24 July following the change of Prime Minister in the UK.
The EU ambassadors agreed on the Union’s draft budget for the year 2020. With the EU Council’s formal acceptance, it will become the Finnish presidency’s mandate in the negotiations with the European Parliament. The key areas from the Polish standpoint, such as cohesion policy, rural development program and Erasmus Plus, are not affected by budget cuts.
On Tuesday, the ninth European Parliament was officially formed. It began its works with seven political groups.
